I had the pleasure of meeting Ellen and Shane when they inquired with me about photography for their winter 2025 wedding back in February. From our very first video call, we clicked right away, which reminded me just how important it is to feel a genuine connection when choosing your wedding photographer. Your photographer will be by your side for some of the most intimate and emotional moments of your day, so building trust is essential.
Over the summer, I photographed their engagement session at Sherwood Gardens, and the results couldn’t be more stunning. Their joy shines as bright as the evening glow we had. Engagement sessions are one of my favorite parts of the process because they allow me to connect and spend some time together before the big day.
Engagement Session at Sherwood Gardens
Ellen and Shane are fellow Baltimoreans who wanted a garden setting for their engagement session. Ultimately, they chose Sherwood Gardens as the location, and I couldn’t have been happier! I have a huge soft spot for this location since it’s where my husband and I took our wedding portraits. It’s a private garden in a historic residential neighborhood in North Baltimore.
While it may only be the size of one city block, there are flower beds, mature trees, and open spaces to provide varying photo backdrops. It’s the perfect spot for any couple who wants engagement photos with that beautiful, lush garden feel!
Blue Engagement Session Outfits
Ellen and Shane wore complementing shades of blue for their engagement session, which brought out their gorgeous blue eyes. Ellen wore a light blue mini-dress with romantic flutter sleeves and accessorized with a pair of nude heels. She swept her hair into a high ponytail to complete the romantic date night-inspired look. Meanwhile, Shane wore a navy blue suit with a white button-down shirt and coordinated brown belt and loafers. The two looked amazing as they strolled through the gardens together!
